Date:2022/09/30(Fri)
On 30 September, Mr Suzuki, Chairman of the British Market Council ('BMC'), hosted a mini-seminar and reception at British Hills in Fukushima.
The event was suspended due to the Covid 19, but this year it was held for the first time in three years.
The theme of this mini-seminar covered 'UK-Japan innovation strategies and bilateral corporate collaboration, including start-ups'.
Mr Euan Edwards, Head of Digital Trade Network (Japan), Department for International Trade, British Embassy in Tokyo, gave a lecture on 'UK-Japan Tech and Innovation: Collaboration and Opportunities', and Mr Nakamura Makoto, Deputy Director, Investment Facilitation Division, Trade and Economic Cooperation Bureau, Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI), took time from his busy schedule of official duties to give an online presentation on 'The recent situation of foreign direct investment in Japan and the Government's efforts to facilitate investment from overseas to Japan'.
Both lectures were followed by a lively question and answer session, which lasted until the time limit.
The seminar was followed by a reception at the Refectory, the main dining room at British Hills, with an authentic dinner featuring the traditional British dish 'roast beef'.
The following day, the beautiful weather allowed everyone to spend their time doing what they wanted: touring the manor house, playing tennis, golfing and walking.
