Mr Imai, Acting Chairman of the BMC, held an environmental seminar in conjunction with the BARAKURA English Garden.

On 17 May 2024, an environmental seminar and lunch reception was held at the Tateshina Kogen BARAKURA English Garden, jointly organised by the British Market Council (BMC) and the BARAKURA English Garden, in cooperation with the Oxford University Botanic Garden. Around, 40 people attended, including lecturers and attendees from the British Market Council and BARAKURA English Garden, and the event included a garden tour, lunch reception, environmental seminar and Net Working Tea Time. The seminar started with a speech by Mr Imai, Acting Chairman of the BMC, followed by a speech by Mr Yamada, President of BARAKURA English Garden, and a lecture by Mr Ben Jones, Arboretum Curator, Oxford University Botanic Garden, on "Nature Conservation Activities being undertaken by Oxford University". Mr Kenichi Suganuma, former Government Representative and Ambassador to the Climate Change Negotiations, gave a lecture on 'The current situation and challenges of climate change issues', and Associate Professor Masaki Ihara of the Laboratory of Bioorganic Chemistry, Faculty of Agriculture, Shinshu University gave a lecture on 'Will banning petrol cars make us happy? -Decarbonisation and the Circular and Sharing Economy".
The day was blessed with fine weather and provided a good opportunity to refresh and relieve the stresses of daily work.
