Acting Chairman Imai of the British Market Council Hosts Meeting of the Board of Directors, Ordinary General Meeting and Reception

On 12 June, Acting Chairman Imai of the British Market Council ('BMC') hosted the 62nd
meeting of the Board of Directors and the concurrent 52nd Ordinary General Meeting as well as a reception at the British Embassy in Tokyo. The combined meeting of the Board of Directors and the Ordinary General Meeting was attended by Mr Darren Goff, Director of Business and Trade at the British Embassy in Tokyo, Mr Yosuke Asai, Director, Investment Facilitation Division, Trade and Economic Cooperation Bureau, METI, and others. All agenda items were approved. The Deputy Secretary General of the Japan Association for the 2025 World Exposition, Mr Manatsu Ichinoki, also participated as a guest of honour and introduced Expo 2025 Osaka-Kansai, which is scheduled to take place from April-October 2025.
The reception was opened by the British Ambassador Julia Longbottom, who spoke about the plans for the UK Pavilion at Osaka-Kansai Expo 2025. At the end of her speech, she called out for the official EXPO2025 character, MYAKU-MYAKU to enter the room the Ambassador and Myaku Myaku had their photo taken together. Afterwards, the Deputy Secretary General of the Japan Association for the 2025 World Exposition, Mr Ichinoki, explained the importance of the Expo2025 and a gave a toast to the success of the Expo. Through the reception with MYAKU-MYAKU, BMC members, the representatives from the British Embassy and the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry and guests were able to strengthen the partnerships between us.
